An (unfinished) story I wrote this summer...

Chapter 1:
“What now?” Emrys angrily exclaimed.”Well… It’s just… I… Never mind” Emrys’ moody tone had made Elif forget. He threw himself on the bed, his curly brown hair bouncing as he did so.”Look,” said Emrys with a sigh, he knew how easily upset Elif got, “I’m… Sorry. But, come on! I’m tired of studying, I have to go home.”
“Ok, ok” Elif got up, run his fingers through his thick hair and followed Emrys as he trundled downstairs. “See you at school tomorrow!” He shouted after him, but Emrys had already left, slamming the door behind him. As Emrys walked down the street, rain pouring on his face, he reflected on how he’d just treated his best friend. He didn’t really care for much, but Elif had always cared for him and so, vice versa. He couldn’t run back and apologise again, that wasn’t what Emrys did. And anyway, it wasn’t his fault he was cranky. He just hadn’t been sleeping all that well. Emrys couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but for some reason he had just been to fall asleep and when he did, the result was him having a nightmare. No. Not a nightmare. Emrys doesn’t have nightmares. He’s too tough. The sound of quickened footsteps interrupted his thoughts. Emrys cautiously turned around and was startled. He expected to see a creature from his bad dreams but instead, it was a girl - at least he thought it was. Her large hood loomed over her and covered most of her face. There was something strange about her and he sensed that she was following him. “Weird,” he thought "Why would anyone follow me home?”. As he arrived at his house, he half expected her to do something drastic. However, she just carried on walking. By the time he got inside and peered through his window, she had disappeared. Maybe she hadn’t been following him after all.
Elif had also seen the girl. Because his parents had made Elif take the rubbish out, he too had noticed her following Emrys. He contemplated following her but decided against it. It was probably just coincidental or something.
He'd seen her. She was certain he had. Amara was usually as sneaky and sly as a fox but this time it was different. She scuttled past Emrys' house before he caught sight of her again. She'd already risked enough by even coming here. Where was the other boy? Didn't they always stick together? She'd been asking around about the two boys - Emrys and Elif. Emrys was blonde, strong and stocky. Elif was dark haired, intelligent and skinny. Amara hoped he was just as strong as Emrys. She needed fighters - not wimps.
Chapter 2:
"Elif! How many times do I have to shout you?" His mother called from downstairs, " get up or you'll be late for school!". Elif shot up out of bed. He hadn't woken during the night and, even though he'd gone to bed early, he was shattered. He'd had some strange dream that him and Emrys had been chased through a forest by some evil unknown creatures. He'd also seen a girl in his dream. He wondered if it was the girl from yesterday but that would be far too weird.
On their way to school, both boys kept a look out for the girl. They had each shared the same dream, only Emrys had been more convinced that it was definitely the girl he saw yesterday.
As usual, the school day dragged on for Emrys. However, for a change, Elif also felt fatigued. By the time it came to last lesson, both of the boys were fighting the urge to fall flat on their faces asleep. It was almost as if they had been given sleeping drugs. Emrys' eyes closed lathargically but opened everytime with the shock of him falling asleep on his way to Room 37 - History. His teacher had, repeatedly, caught Emrys drifting off to sleep in the back of his classroom. He had no choice but to skip this lesson or he would collapse in exhaustion. Which would result in very serious trouble for Emrys - as usual.
Elif, being the brains, had already thought of this and was hiding in the toilets. He was the star pupil of Mr.Overingtons class and so, by falling asleep, could not risk losing that title.

To be continued...
